A few days before their gig at Toplocentrala Contemporary Art Center in Sofia on the 18th of February at 9pm, the members of the band SkyWay are sharing some insights about the band and where they are headed.
They have experimented with a couple of different styles of music so far. All members have different educational and practical background as musicians.
United by the power of sound the boys have an ambitious flair to their speech and are willing to go the extra miles, when it comes to making a way for new music waves to keep emerging in the capital and Bulgaria as well.
On the 18th of February from 9 pm at Toplocentrala would be their debut as an official band!
This what can be expected as they say themselves
We are SkyWay and in the week of love we will take you to an unforgettable part of the world's musical history, namely the work of Elvis Presley. A full palette of rhythm & blues and its variations will make you dance and sing like never before. The party is guaranteed! This will be our debut as a band and your support will mean a lot to us! Who are SkyWay and how did the band emerged?
We are a band of 7 unique guys, charged with love for music and hunger for big dreams. When there are such people, the universe brings them together not by accident, so there is some reason we are brought together, we have yet to find out what it is, but we’re excited. We believe that the sky is the limit for SkyWay.
What stands behind the name?
That’s a very interesting question. The real answer is that even we don’t know and that’s the beauty of it. SkyWay is based on the mysterious and limitless cosmos.
Do you think your choice of music style has and audience here in Sofia?
Yes, we think so. Implementing a different style of music that’s combined by some genres is an interesting recipe. We combine pop with jazzy, funky and lo-fi elements. We are always ready to explore different music and make something unique. Our goal is to tell a story.
Why Elvis?
We believe that musical traditions should be respected and we wanted this to be the first step in our musical journey as a band. Elvis Presley is one of the people who changed music and we are honored to be able to pay tribute to his wonderful career.
Where are you headed for the future?
Only forward! The only thing we can say is that you can expect some great stuff from SkyWay’s musical kitchen.
